![]() Apparently, new features have higher priorities than fixing bugs. And that the browser is still partly buggy, I must also agree. The user interface seems a bit sluggish compared to other browsers, I have to agree. Because honestly I don't have a single problem with the split screen feature. Now what is the problem with the tab split that was mentioned in your initial comment, you didn't go into it. I will keep an eye on Vivaldi but as of now, it is too buggy to be the sweet spot. Google service extensions only work on Chrome. For example, as of now, Bitwarden's biometric login fails (only on Vivaldi.). Not all extensions work or work properly too. Hibernation of tabs was an innovative idea at first, but now other browsers have it built in too. Other browsers don't have these features because these don't make sense at all. If you use the tabs, then stacking is somewhat cumbersome to use.Įmail, RSS ,Calendar may not be even good ideas in the first place. If you are using the side bar, you don't need it, its not different than other vertical tabs. Tab stacking is again an innovative idea on paper but not in use. There are already tons of extensions that do it better. Notes, reading lists, translation are fine but nothing special really. Translate also sometimes freezes the tab. And you support an alternative to Google's Chromium and the Blink engine. Once to support at least some Firefox, because the browser itself has some great features: multi-container, fast and secure synchronization, sharp images and original color fidelity, full-featured uBlock. And since the Vivaldi team is very small, unfortunately they can't fork Chromium.Īnd if you ask me, as a secondary browser I use Mozilla Firefox. This means that one is dependent on Google, what it does with Chromium. In addition, Vivaldi has now signed a contract with some car manufacturers, which again strengthens Vivaldi's financial performance.īut not everything is rosy, as Vivaldi is based on Chromium. (In)dependence: Vivaldi's business model stands out from the competition. Except for few opinions that they will never do anything with crypto, which are also supported with facts, they are not really politically active or share any real political opinion. Politics: The Vivaldi browser never really expresses itself politically. ![]() Unlike Firefox, the developers also listen to the users and the community itself is very friendly. Support: The Vivaldi forum is great because you can ask anything. Not of the same opinion? Then I'll list a few: Note management, reading list, tab stacking, tab hibernating, built-in translator, web panel, mouse gestures, tab groups, show tabs in split screen, ad blocker, built-in email client - just to name a few. Personalization & Customization: Hands down, Vivaldi easily takes the cake: įeatures: Vivaldi is by far the browser that offers the most features. The Vivaldi team has managed to optimize the browser's RAM usage to such an extent that it outplays all other browsers. ![]() In terms of RAM usage, however, Vivaldi has made a big splash. Resource consumption: In terms of CPU usage, Vivaldi is very discreetly on par with Google Chrome, despite all the settings and modification options. Speed: In terms of pure speed, there are browsers that are snappier, but if you keep the numerous features in mind, the browser actually performs solidly. Vivaldi is based in Norway and therefore the European data protection laws apply, which are very strict. Privacy: Vivaldi is not totally privacy-focused, but it is privacy-friendly. ![]() However, in my opinion, Vivaldi's advantages outweigh its shortcomings. And everyone has different preferences, so you can't say that Browser X is the best choice for everyone. If you think about it, Vivaldi is a near-perfect browser that doesn't really miss anything, does it?īefore I start listing why I think Vivaldi is the sweet spot of browsers, I want to make it clear that there is no perfect browser these days.
